When you have viruses, trojans, malware and spy ware. You need various tools to help remove them as soon as possible. You cannot always rely on "Anti-virus" software to remove every one of them all at once.

Nature of Viruses n Trojans
Some viruses may detect anti-viruses software and set up barriers, for example, 'if found halt the machine, to force the user to reboot'.

Trojans may get removed successfully once, but they may detect this and spawn a new one.
